A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in Target. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Target.
We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by ra…

This is one of the kindest things you may ever see..
It is not known who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service.
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:…

My Dad is doing well. He has taken the summer off and is receiving radiation treatments as well as the hormone shots. His wife's Mother is visiting from Taiwan and he is having fun showing her the sights around Vancouver, B.C. He says that so far the only side effects from the radiation is that he is getting very tired.
Sadly, his brother, my Uncle Jerry has passed away. He had prostate cancer for a number of years and it spread. I am glad that he is no longer suffering. He was so loved and wil…

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes
I walked to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.
After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie.
By her side was a small nylon suitcase. Th e apartment looked as if no one had lived in it…

Sorry I haven't been on the site in a few months ... work and real life have kept me very busy ... not enough hours in the day. To update everyone so far my colon cancer is still in remission, PTL, and health issues are improving. I participated in the Maui Walk for Life on June 20, 2009 and it was so great to be able to walk with the survivor group, as well as our family team, that was special. My daughter Mikayla, 2 1/2, even walked the first few hours with Daddy although most of the time on m…

A cancer is said to be in Stage IV when it has spread from its site of origin to distant organs, this progression is also known as metastasis. Unless a metastasis is singular—meaning it has only spread to one specific site—and accessible, it usually means that the cancer is no longer curable with localized therapies such as surgery or radiotherapy.
Some types of stage IV cancer can be attacked effectively with chemotherapy; other types are poorly responsive to the cytotoxic drugs that are curre…

Make sure you read as well as listen.
This is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20 year old.
The contest was Titled "u @50". This video won second place.
When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause.
So simple and yet so brilliant. Take a minute and watch it.

It happened every Friday evening, almost without fail, when the sun
resembled a giant orange and was starting to dip into the blue ocean.
Old Ed came strolling along the beach to his favorite pier. Clutched in
his bony hand was a bucket of shrimp. Ed walks out to the end of the pier, where it seems he almost has the world to himself. The glow of the sun is a golden bronze now.
Everybody's gone, except for a few joggers on the beach. Standing out on the end of the pier, Ed is alone with his tho…

I have a friend who is a receptionist in a church in
a high risk area who was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection.
She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead. The wasp spray, they told her,can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray they have to get too close to you and could overpower you.…
