- What type of cancer are you dealing with?
- We, as in my family,was told that my mom ("Best Friend") had lung cancer in 2006 and that they couldnt do surgery on her because it was to close to her heart. And on top of the cancer she has Emphezema pretty bad. I was devistated, i had all kinds of thoughts running through my mind, and the biggest one was "What am i going to do without my mom". "She wont beable to see my 2 kids graduate from highschool" You see, I am 1 of 5 kids but they are way older then me..I was an "OOPS" baby..lol... so it was like being the only child at home. I have 3 brothers and 1 sister, and the closest brother in age to me is 10 years older them me. there isnt a day that goes by that I dont talk to my mom atleast 2 times a day. My parents live an hour from me and I go see them every chance i get, but when i was told she had cancer and that they didnt think that the chemo or radiation was going to work, it was like i froze up, i couldnt go see her because in my mind i wanted to remember her as a fun loving happy go lucky mom...I know that sounds selfish but thats what I was feeling. I didnt know what else to do. I felt lost it was a horrible feeling.She went throught 6 months of radiation and chemo. Then one day she called My sister and I and asked if we would come up and help her deep clean her house I couldnt say no to her,. so my siser and I get to her house and she is pretty tired but in a happy mood, she looked white and worn out and my dad looked pretty tired himself, I told them i had to go get something out of the car and went outside and cried. then all of a sudden my mom was standing right beside me crying with me, i told her how scared i was and that i was sorry that i had'nt been up to see her. She told me she knew how i was feeling and that that was ok,( I guess mom's are right when they says"mom"s know everything"), I felt a little bit better but was still very scared. We go inside and my mom says Girl's I have something to tell you, and my heart went to my stomach, i just knew she was going to tell us they put a time limit on her, She said, "I went to the dr yesterday,(and the tears rolled out my eyes) and they did a scan on my lungs again, and the spot has STOPPED growing. I dont think I have ever cried or hugged my mom so hard in my life. It was a relief to her e her say that, all tho I knew she wasnt totally out of the woods, I was still going to beable to spend another Christmas with BOTH of my parents! I am HAPPY to report that we are only a few days away from Christmas 2008 and I am spending ANOTHER Christmas with BOTH of my parents.
This was very hard for me to type, I guess i just didnt want to relive them moments because it was like it was yesterday that I almost had my mom taken from me, In 2007 I had a very very close friend that I have done hair with for 15 years pass away of liver cancer, that has to be the most horrible thing to watch someone go through, but I learned from my experience with my mom that its ok to be scared but dont give up on them, and I was right by her side through it all, the drs gave her 6 months to live, and to the day she ppassed away Nov of 2008, there is not a day that dont go by that i dont think about her.
Sorry this is so long, but my fingers just kept going...lol
My prayers go out to each and everyone of you!
I just want to say Thank you to all of you that is saying a prayer for my mom, she goes in today at 10am to recieve a pacermaker..I will keep you all posted! Thanks again and GOD BLESS!
